This is my newegg review on my newest camera. The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS. I can expand more on this, and give a complete review if anyone wishes me to. Just comment, and I’ll write the rest up, and notify you when the full review is posted.
Pros: Takes amazing, crisp, large pictures. All colors are vivid. The 20x optical zoom is a definite plus. I do a lot of long distance, and nature photography, so if I can’t get close enough to an animal or such, the zoom works great.
The long list of features on the camera is almost unnecessary! Still, more features is good. I didnt loose any features from the SD1000 I previously had.
DIGIC IV Processor is my newest best friend. The face detection and auto-focus both work nearly perfect! Constantly changes the settings, even after the picture button is half pressed.
Separate buttons for photos and videos is another good feature. This allows the user to set up the camera in any shooting mode, and record a video in it. And even more of a plus: You can take pictures while recording a video. I needed this feature!
The manual flash flip is a plus in my thinking. This way, I never accidentally forget to turn flash off and scare away animals.
Camera also works great in low light!
Cons: Few things I have found on the camera are wrong. This is my list:
1. No tether on the lens cap – but I don’t really care. I have a pocket. Just need to remember to air clean it before I put it back on.
2. Every once in a while, the auto-focus will like to switch right before I take the picture. I consider this my fault.
3. Remember when I said the camera has almost an unnecessary amount of features? In full manual, don’t expect to take a picture for at least 20 seconds, if you’re fast.
4. In macro-mode, the big lens gets in the way when taking a picture of a close object.
5. Camera has a “blind spot” of sorts. About 3-4 feet in front of it, you cannot zoom in on an object. I’ve tried every shooting mode possible, for some reason, it just will not work.
Other Thoughts: Overall, I give this camera 4.7 out of 5. (I rounded the eggs!) Due to the macro thing. I love macro photography, so that was kind of a bummer, but it’s still fine.
The preset modes on the camera dial are very helpful!
